Arsenal have
reportedly compiled a list of possible transfer options and with just
one month before the close of the transfer window, Barcelona defensive
midfielder Sergio Busquets has become their primary target.
Arcording to SPORT, Arsenal manager
Arsene Wenger has made it a priority to strengthen his midfield ahead
of the 2015-16 season and sees 27-year-old Busquets as the perfect cog
needed for his engine to run smoothly next season.
With an aging Arteta and a relatively inexperienced Francis Coquelin,
Wenger is looking to add not only championship calibre but also a
maturity that comes from winning virtually every club and international
title before you even hit the prime years of your career.
Busquets recently signed a contract extension until 2019 and unlike his teammate Pedro Rodriguez, but the Spanish international has no desire to leave the Camp Nou anytime soon.
Arsenal have the necessary funds at their disposal to sign Busquets, but
would need to convince the La Masia graduate to turn his back on the
treble winners and begin a new adventure at the Emirates and their
even-growing group of Spaniards.
