Saido Berahino: Spurs target hints at West Brom displeasure

West Brom striker Saido Berahino has suggested he will never play for the club again under chairman Jeremy Peace, after the Baggies turned down a fourth bid for him from Tottenham.

Spurs had two transfer deadline day bids turned down for the 22-year-old.
Peace criticised Spurs' "antics" in trying to get the player "cheaply".
Berahino tweeted:  "Sad how I can't say exactly how the club has treated me, but I can officially say I will never play [for] Jeremy Peace."

Tottenham also had two other bids for the forward rejected in the summer.
The England Under-21 player had a transfer request rejected  after the Baggies turned down the first offer from Spurs.
Peace told the club's website:  "We have a key player who has been very unsettled by antics which were designed to get him out of our club cheaply.
"Those tactics have continued despite my making our position clear in my first conversation with Daniel Levy on this subject in mid-August.
"I said selling Saido so late in the window was not on our agenda."

"Some at West Brom encouraged chairman Jeremy Peace to find an agreement with Spurs counterpart Daniel Levy, even within the final hour of the window, but Peace refused.
"It is also understood that at no point in this saga did Peace give Tottenham a price that might secure the player, hence the prolonged chase and multiple bids.
"There is serious concern at West Brom about the effect this will have dressing room morale, with Berahino not in a state of mind to play and not one of the more popular figures among team-mates."

Berahino has been left out of West Brom's last two Premier League games and Capital One Cup tie with Port Vale, with manager Tony Pulis saying he was not in the right frame of mind to play.
Peace added: "Saido has been unsettled to the point where our head coach has not felt able to select him for our last three games.
"We are now left with the task of repairing the damage created by this unfortunate episode."

"I've been in this position myself. I didn't go public in the way that Berahino has done, but I have said something similar to a chairman in a huff, about not wanting to play for a certain club again. And in the end, I did get my move.
"I don't know if I'd have been able to follow it through by refusing to play. But I don't regret saying it, because I wouldn't have got that move otherwise.
"I didn't play for that club again, and I was made to sign a form when I left that I wouldn't talk about what happened. But because I've been through it, I've been very reluctant to cane Berahino."
